Activities and actions

The Regional Zone Committee has been getting through a huge volume of work as committee members work to understand the key regional issues for water management in Canterbury.
Delivering a draft Regional Implementation Plan (RIP) is a key priotity for the committee.
Following a series of collaborative workshop sessions to develop the key aspects of its regional water management programme the committee has now released its draft RIP for public feedback.
The draft RIP indentifies four priority issues which need to be addressed at a regional level to meet the multiple targets in the Canterbury Water Management Strategy.
The priority issues are:
- Kaitiakitanga
- Ecosystem health and biodiversity
- Land use and water quality
- Regional infrastrucutre
Public meetings were held around Canterbury in April to gather feedback and talk with locals. People were also able to submit feedback on-line prior to the 15 April deadline.
The feedback will be taken in to acount as a final version of the RIP is prepared.
