Wave direction

Wave direction is simply the direction that the wave arrives at the buoy from. This is expressed as degrees from north. For example, a wave arriving from the east will have a wave direction of 90 degrees.

The graph below shows the wave timing recorded by the Canterbury wave buoy over the past week. You can also see the wave direction for the past 60 days.
