Are you interested in getting your community involved in improving the health of Canterbury's streams and rivers? Perhaps the Living Streams programme can help.

What is the Living Streams Programme?

The programme is designed to improve the health of waterways in partnership with local people, providing advice and support specific to each stream and community.

What projects are eligible to become Living Streams projects?

Projects suitable for the Living Streams programme must clearly benefit stream health. They must also have support from your local community and set clear and achievable goals.

Who can apply?

Anyone can apply to become part of the Living Streams programme - community, conservation or recreational groups, individuals or landholders.

What support is available?

The following support is available:

Easy access to water quality information on your waterway
The opportunity for experts to visit your community and talk on subjects such as water quality, fish species and educational programmes
Native planting advice
Support for running meetings, planting and field days
Project planning advice, including advice on carrying out surveys and monitoring

How do we apply?

Applications must be made on the Living Streams application from and posted to Resource Care, Environment Canterbury, PO Box 345, Christchurch 8140. Forms can be downloaded from the link below or you can call Environment Canterbury's Customer Services on 0800 354636 for a printed copy.

Please apply by March 31 2009. We will let you know by May 2009 if your application has been accepted.
