Waimakariri River Regional Park

Waimakariri River ParkKaiapoi Island

Kaiapoi Island, part of the Waimakariri River Regional Park, has been transformed from a rough river bed area into a park with something for everyone.

Separate areas have been created for a wide range of recreational activities including fishing, mountain biking, jet boating, trail bike riding, picnics and walking. The first stage of the park at McLeans Island was opened in September 2007 and has been enjoyed by many, particularly mountain bikers.
