Living Canterbury

An interactive display suitable for families, schools and community groups, on display at Canterbury museums.

What is Living Canterbury?

An amazing exhibit that helps you see Canterbury in a way you've never experienced. Discover the natural resources of Canterbury – water, land, air and coast. Learn about the distinctive features of the Canterbury region, and find out what affects them and the region's natural resources.

What will Mum think?

The “mother” Living Canterbury gallery is at the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch. It’s a HUGE, wonderful place, which celebrates the uniqueness of Canterbury’s natural history. It’s been on display since December 2001 – and well worth the visit for the hundreds of thousands of people who have already been through the gallery. Contact the Canterbury Museum leaving Environment Canterbury's website for more details.

There is also a transportable mini Living Canterbury display that visits North and South Canterbury during the year. Contact Sian Carvell for more details.
