Pollution Prevention Guide

PPG Posters Oil  PPG Poster about Spills

Environment Canterbury’s Pollution Prevention Guide is available free to all businesses in Canterbury.
Pollution Prevention Officer Don Chittock says the guide is made up of six modules, covering drainage, storage and handling of chemicals, air, transport, housekeeping, and spill management.

The guide is of use to all kinds of businesses. Any business that uses chemicals, washes down vehicles or product, or has a waste skip or a stormwater drain on their site has the potential to cause pollution. The guide and eight supporting worksite posters will provide practical information on how to improve the way things are currently done.

To help businesses further Ecan now has a Pollution Prevention Officer available to bring the PPG to your site and conduct a free site assessment to start the process off. This role is proactive, designed to work alongside industry, assisting in identification of issues and recommendations of potential improvements.

Don has a background in agrichemical use, chemical storage and transportation along with hands on experience of improving site procedures and storage compliance issues within private industry. This practical experience is supported with current Goods and Services and Dangerous Goods Licences as well as continuing education in Environmental Management.
