Resource Consents

Consultant Tools

On-line GIS
On-line GIS contains many GIS layers that are used internally by ECan staff some of which link to ECan Databases.

Daily Irrigation Restrictions
This web page links directly to our Resource Consents Database and will display all Daily Irrigation Restriction information according to the parameters entered by the user.
Enter a date range (From Date and To Date) by clicking on the calendar icon next to the fields.  These dates are inclusive, i.e. the report will include any results between as well as on these dates.
Select from the drop down list which area of Canterbury is of interest.
Then press the "Run Query" button to run the report.  There is an "Export to Excel" option that will appear once the report has been run.

Consent Search
The on-line Consent Search Tool enables the public to look up any current consent or application in our Resource Consents Database.
The user can either enter a consent number or use the advanced search option to search by name, consent type, location, or consent status.
For consents no longer current (e.g. expired) please contact Customer Services.
User tip: In the top right is a "Print" button for clean printing of the consent summary.

WellCard
The WellCard page displays a summary of information that ECan has on a specified Well or bore.  This application does not search on well details, however by using the on-line GIS or Consent Search the desired well number can be found.  There is also a link to the Bore Log and has a printable version.

Condition Template Search
The Condition Template Search Tool enables consultants to look up and copy the condition text that ECan's Consents Section uses.
These templates can be used by consultants in consent applications.  To use these templates find the template needed and highlight the text and use the copy function (Ctrl+C on most keyboards) the past into any word document (Ctrl+V).
Please note: This is a new service and as such does not have many templates yet.  As standard condition templates are reviewed internally some will be added to this web page.

Proposed Rule WQL 42: Tank Removal Form
The Proposed Rule WQL 42 Tank Removal Form is for notifying ECan that an underground storage tank is to be removed.  The form is filled in online then the when complete the user presses the Submit button at the bottom of the form.

Proposed Rule WQL 53: Notification of Contaminated Site Investigation
This form is to be used to notify ECan for all contaminated site investigations that ARE NOT tank removals.  The form requires the input of site information including legal description and investigation details, and is submitted directly to a contaminated sites officer.

WQN10 – Well Interference
This web application will create an input file (PRN file) directly from Environment Canterbury’s Wells Database and Resource Consents Database for a well interference assessment.  There is also a link to download a zipped version of the stand alone WQN10 program.  Links to instructions are at the bottom of the web application.

Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines
This webpage links directly to our Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines. These guidelines give advice on methodology and project planning, including ways of approaching earthworks that can reduce the risk of erosion. The guidelines also give advice on how to use the various erosion and sediment control practices together by preparing an erosion and sediment control plan.
