Waitaki Resource Consent Process

FAQ | Hunter Downs Irrigation Scheme | North Bank Tunnel Concept (NBTC) | NBTC Reconvened Hearing | Plans and Documents | Timeline | Lower Waitaki Hearings | Waitaki Act

Applications to take, divert, dam and use water in the Waitaki Catchment are subject to the Waitaki Catchment Water Allocation Regional Plan. There are large number of applications currently in process, some of which are applications for replacement consents and some for new allocations of water. Environment Canterbury regularly receives new applications, in addition to those caught by the Ministerial Call-in and subsequent plan development process.

Following is a timeline, up to the present, which shows the steps that have occurred in the processing of these applications in the Waitaki Catchment, since the Ministerial Call-in of all Waitaki Catchment water applications on 11 September 2003. You can click on a step in the timeline to be taken to relevant information and documents.

The timeline also includes projections for future important dates. Where these dates have been confirmed, they appear in bold. In some cases a target date has been entered, which the Regional Council is working towards, but which may be subject to change, and these appear faded out. As one of these dates becomes confirmed, it will appear in bold.
