The Resource Management Coordination team at Environment Canterbury works with landowner and community groups to improve the health of Canterbury’s environment.
You may have already talked to a Resource Management Coordination team member if you have participated in a field day hosted by Environment Canterbury.
What do we do?
Much of our work involves riparian zones - the strips of land that border rivers, streams, drains and wetlands, and are vitally important for protecting water quality and the diverse wildlife in Canterbury. Well-managed, these zones can filter nutrients and sediment from surrounding land, improve habitat and wildlife values (both within the stream or on land), reduce bank erosion, and enhance the value and look of your property.
Resource Management Coordination team members are available to discuss and advise you on riparian zone management, or to prepare a simple step-by-step plan, specifically designed for your individual situation.
