Waste must be stored and handled in a way that will not harm the environment. Implementing some simple techniques will improve your waste management and help prevent pollution:
- Label skips and waste containers with accurate, easy to read and up-to-date information to prevent waste being put in the wrong container.
- Use skip covers to prevent rain entering skips and waste being blown out of skips.
- Establish a dedicated waste storage area that is marked out and labeled.
- Locate skips away from storm water drains and on protected surfaces.
- Separate your paper/cardboard and other recyclable materials.
