We recommend the use of local Canterbury species and seed sources; always seek certification of where seed has been collected before ordering your plants. Use healthy plants grown by a good nursery, and don’t accept pot-bound stock.

Restoration consultants and contractors

Restoration consultants and contractors provide a variety of services including planning, species selection, site preparation, planting and maintenance for your project. Although this may be more cost up-front, getting advice and assistance from an experienced contractor can help to make your project more successful in the long term. If planting or maintenance falls at a busy time of year on your property, having a contractor to help with the work will protect the investment that you have already made in purchasing the plants. Employing a planting contractor is like any employment agreement – ask to see some of their previous projects and talk to other landowners they have worked for to ensure they can provide the service that you need.
