The applicant proposes to manage stormwater for the Amberley township, including that arising from both existing and future developments, in a comprehensive and holistic way. This includes addressing existing flood-related concerns as well as progressing a global stormwater discharge consent that will set the framework for stormwater management to address future development in the Amberley area. As the proposed activities associated with these are closely linked and inter-related, all applications have been notified together. Consequently, there are consents required for all of the activities associated with the creation of the Amberley Stormwater Management Area. The Stormwater Management Area covers approximately 330 hectares and there are three natural waterways that may be affected, namely the Kowai River, Dock Creek and Eastern Drain, and a constructed waterway (Teviots Drain) that drains into an ephemeral channel (Dry Gully). The Stormwater Management Area has been designed to address water quantity and quality issues, while enhancing the urban amenity values.
