The only people or organisations able to submit on the revised Hurunui Water Conservation Order application being reheard by Environment Canterbury are those who submitted on the original application lodged with the Minister for the Environment by the applicants Fish and Game Council New Zealand, the North Canterbury Fish and Game Council and Whitewater New Zealand.
Every eligible submitter has been sent a letter and a submission form by mail from Environment Canterbury. If you have not received your letter by 20 August 2010, please contact Susannah Black.
Should you lodge a submission in opposition to the the Hurunui WCO, you must specify the reasons why you consider the proposed order is not justified in terms of sections 50 and 57 of the Environment Canterbury Act.
Environment Canterbury has decided to extend the submission period for the revised application for the Hurunui Water Conservation Order (WCO) for two weeks until Friday 8th October 2010.
The original closing date for submissions on the Hurunui WCO was Friday 24th September 2010.
The reason for this is that the earthquake on Saturday 4th September and subsequent aftershocks have caused a great deal of disruption particularly within Christchurch, as well as across the Canterbury region. Many of the submitters are Christchurch based, and many law firms and other organisations have been closed during these difficult times.
The decision to extend the closing dates for submissions was made after taking into account the matters contained in Section 37 of the Resource Management Act 1991. A letter has been sent to each submitter advising them of this extension.
