Members of the community are actively encouraged to participate in discussions during the Planning process.
The Pareora Environmental Flow Review process was initiated in late 2007, with a meeting in the Southburn Hall. This meeting included an overview of the flow review process and the formation of a community advisory group. The community advisory group has since been reduced to a 12-member Steering Group, who have the role of attending meetings and discussing options as we move through the review process, and feeding information back to the wider community. At the end of the review process, the Pareora River will have its own stand-alone flow and allocation plan.
The Pareora Flow Review Steering Group is comprised of a range of stakeholders including irrigators, recreationists and local residents. It is the responsibility of each member of the steering group to attend meetings during the flow review process, and to act as a conduit of information between the group and the like-minded members of the wider community whom each group member represents.
Previous meetings
The last meeting of the Steering Group was held on Monday 22 November 2010. The purpose of this meeting was to consider the Summary of Decisions Requested associated with the submissions received on the Proposed Pareora Catchment Environmental Flow and Allocation Regional Plan. As this was an informal meeting, no minutes were taken.
