Each flow review requires background research to inform the Planning Process.
A considerable amount of research has been undertaken in the Pareora River catchment since the flow review commenced, with technical reports commissioned covering: aquatic ecology; indigenous vegetation; natural landscapes, natural character and amenity; Tangata Whenua values and hydrology. There has also been a report produced looking at the economic impact of various environmental flow options.
Pareora River Aquatic Ecology and Minimum Flow Requirements: Golder Associates 2008
Focus on the ecological values present in the Pareora River, providing a detailed description of the species present and recommending minimum flows to sustain those values.
Aquatic ecology (pdf 2.04 MB)
Botanical Features of the Pareora River: Partridge 2008
Describes the botanical findings of field assessments carried out on the Pareora River in March 2008.

Economic Impact of Minimum Flow Proposals: Harris Consulting 2010
