PROPOSED: Read the Proposed Canterbury Regional Policy Statement and its supporting documentation.
The Canterbury Regional Policy Statement (CRPS) became operative in 1998. The Resource Management Act requires that Regional Policy Statements are reviewed every 10 years. A full review of the operative CRPS began in 2006. Over the five years of the review Environment Canterbury have worked closely with key partners and stakeholders to develop a framework for the management of Canterbury’s resources for the next 15 years.
Submissions and further submissions on the Proposed CRPS have been received and analysed, and planners have prepared reports for the hearings panel that include recommendations for addressing each submission. You can view these reports by clicking the “Hearings” tab below.
The commissioners have sent out the first minute setting out the process and timeframes for the hearings. This includes a requirement for the provision of expert evidence prior by December 16th. The minute can be found on the hearings link below.
