Heathcote River Floodplain Management Strategy (9428 KB)
The purpose of the strategy is to achieve an acceptable level of flood damage on the floodplain of the Heathcote River by integrating the management of the use, development and protection of natural and physical resources. The strategy represents a non-statutory response to the flood damage issues of the Heathcote River floodplain. It provides a strategic overview of the management issues and develops solutions.

Waihao River Floodplain Management Strategy (4637 KB)
The purpose of the Floodplain Management Strategy is to not only identify cost-effective structural measures, but through integrated land use management, to minimise existing and future exposure to flood damages on the Waihao River Floodplain. A range of floodplain mitigation measures has been evaluated on the basis of physical, economic, social, and environmental criteria. The Strategy is a non-statutory document that links the physical measures in the river control scheme with the landuse measures identified in the Waimate District and Regional Plans, as well as other measures such as floodwarning, community preparedness, and civil defence.

Waimakariri District Flood Hazard Management Strategy (18750 KB)
The Waimakariri District Flood Hazard Management Strategy provides an overview of the measures that are presently being undertaken, or will be undertaken by Environment Canterbury or the Waimakariri District Council to manage the flood risks from the Waimakariri River system and the Ashley River/Rakahuri. The focus is on the measures associated with maintaining flood flows within the river channel and to manage the level of risk to people and property in the event of water breaching or overtopping the flood protection systems for either river.
