Environment Canterbury leased land is predominantly leased to individuals and groups for farming, recreation, and to a lesser extent to commercial businesses. To ensure safe farm and business operations the public can’t access the leases as of right.

Any access issues need to be discussed with the Environment Canterbury Parks, Reserves and Forest staff.

Adjacent to the Waimakariri River Regional Park along McLeans Island Road there are clubs, incorporated societies, and some commercial businesses who would welcome customers and/or potential members.
