It is not necessary to remove your old wood burner or close off your open fire once the ban in your area commences, however you will not be able to use the fire or wood burner.
For Christchurch these fires will not be able to be used from 1 April until 30 September each year.
For Kaiapoi, Rangiora and Ashburton the open fire and old wood burner ban will take effect on the 1st of May 2012. In these areas the use of open fires and old wood burners will be permanently banned.
