In certain situations it is possible to discharge swimming pool water into a river or onto land without requiring a resource consent. There a number of conditions you must be able to comply with.
The conditions that need to be met relate to the following environmental factors:
- Maintaining river water quality
- Maintaining river flow levels
- Checking that concentration of acceptable chemicals are kept within required levels
- Ensuring that there are no discharges containing prohibited chemicals
There are different conditions for the discharge (to land only) of pool filter backwashes due to the increased concentration of chemicals
