The 100m building setback from a stopbank is a District Council requirement. In this situation a resource consent is required from the District Council, however as part of the resource consent application the District Council requires a flood risk assessment from Environment Canterbury. You can apply for this assessment by filling out the application form and submitting it with a fee of $172.50 (including GST). Flood risk assessments can take up to 10 working days to process.
