Endosulfan is an insecticide that is highly toxic to people and the environment and is bioaccumulative (builds up in organisms). It has been used on vegetable, berry, fruit and flower crops and on sports grounds.
Endosulfan products cannot be diluted or mixed with any other substance (or water), sprayed or discharged into the environment, burnt, put into a farm pit, landfill or sewage facility.
Disposal has to be done by certified contractors. When using a commercial contractor you should ask for proof of legal disposal. The following list of contractors was supplied by the Environmental Risk Management Authority ERMA New Zealand.
