Environment Canterbury does have provisions for some heritage buildings in Christchurch to be exempt from the winter fire ban.
These buildings need to be listed as a Heritage building in the Christchurch City Council plan, the fire needs to be part of the original house and the building needs to be regularly open to the public as of right.

If your property is not part of the schedule then you will not be allowed to use the fire between April and September each year.
