Please read the brochure
'Land Management Fires: Hill and High Country Burning' for information on what is classified as 'Hill and High Country Burning' and the conditions for permitted burns. If your burning complies with all the conditions for a permitted activity, then you will not need a resource consent but you will need to notify Environment Canterbury with details of your intended burn.
The information to be provided when notifying Environment Canterbury will depend on the reason(s) you are burning. Please complete the Hill and High Country Burning Checklist and send to
ecinfo@ecan.govt.nz for it to be assessed.
You will receive a response to either confirm that your intended burn meets the permitted activity criteria or whether a resource consent needs to be applied for.
