Biosecurity staff will contact the land owner concerned and undertake an inspection usually within 7 days. If that inspection reveals that they are not complying with the Regional Pest Management Strategy rules then staff will give them a definite date (about a month) to do the work and then the property will be inspected again.
If occupiers comply with the request made by the time that the second inspection is carried out then there is no charge to them (all paid by rates) however if they do not comply then they are served a Notice of Direction and all extra time and travel spent will be recovered from them.
