“Depending on the type of vegetation to be burnt, and the location, the following times apply to burning vegetation in the hill and high country in Canterbury:
1. For the coastal hill areas from Waipara to Kekerengu and for Banks Peninsula the burn season starts on the 1st June and finishes on the 31st October;
2. For all other areas of hill and high country, the burning season starts on 1st July and finishes on the 31st October;
3. Areas of bracken fern may be burnt from 1st April through to the 31st October.
