Compliance monitoring is necessary to ensure you meet the conditions of your consent which in turn safeguards our environment. As a responsible environmental guardian, Environment Canterbury is the statutory body under the Resource Management Act to carry out this regulatory function.
The Annual Compliance charge is for costs associated with ongoing consent management responsibilities which include the administration, supervision and maintenance of resource consents. It is not for physical compliance monitoring on site visits/inspections
The new charging structure allows Environment Canterbury to ensure you as a consent holder are meeting the conditions of your consent. The costs have always existed; however, we have now implemented a charging structure whereby affected consent holders share the costs, particularly for functions which are common to all consents such as database maintenance
The charge includes a Annual Fixed Charge of $63.00 and a Hourly Monitoring Rate of $74.25 per hour + disbursements.
