Environment Canterbury has begun sending letters out to property owners who have woodburners that are at least 15 years old. The letter informs them that at 1 April 2011 they will not be able to use their woodburner to heat their house over the winter months.
The intention of the letter is to inform people of the changes and give them time to change their heating appliances. The properties have been identified from the Christchurch City Council building consent records.
