Identify: Select and then click on a feature to get basic information shown in the Results/Action area. The information returned will be from the active layer. For parcels you can then click on the web address to get extended information. |
Query Tool: This tool opens a dialog box at the bottom of the map in the Results/Action area where you can type in a query or use the query builder interface. If a feature is found a new map will be drawn that is zoomed into the feature. The query is already set for parcel numbers. Enter the parcel number (minus any leading zeroes) in the 'Value' field, click "Add to Query String," then click "Execute." Click the "Samples" button to check the format of fields. Complex expressions can be built by using various operators such as "And" and "Or." If multiple features are found, a list will be returned where features can be selected and zoomed to. |
Find: Click the button and type in a search string to get a list of all the features in the active layer that match. On the Consents, Parcels, Roads, Streams, Wells, Groundwater Takes, and Water Quality Layers, you can use the percentage sign as a wildcard. To search for all parcels that start with 988 you would type "988%". On other layers, use the asterisk as a wild card. This search is case sensitive, so you need to have the case correct to return a value (ROAD is not the same as Road). If you are unsure of the case, try using the ID tool on a feature in the layer and look at the results to see what the default case is on the field you are searching. If multiple features are found, a list will be returned in the Results/Actions area. Click on the record number at left to zoom to a feature. For parcels you can click on the web address to get extended information. |
Buffer: Select a feature and then click the buffer button. Enter a distance for the buffer and a layer that you want to highlight features from and then click "Buffer". A new map will be returned that shows the buffer and features that fell within it. Buffering may take some time depending on the layer you choose to highlight and your buffer distance. Check the "Display Attributes" checkbox prior to buffering to get a list of features that fall within the buffer. |
Select by Rectangle: Select an object by clicking once or drawing a rectangle within it. All objects in the active layer that are touched by the rectangle will be selected. The attributes of the selected features from the active layer show in the Results/Actions area. |
Select Shape: Selects features that fall into the shape that you draw. All objects in the active layer touched by the line or polygon will be selected. Wait for a red dot to appear before choosing the next point. The attributes of the selected features from the active layer show in the Results/Actions area. |
Buffer Shape: This tool allows you to buffer so many units around a shape, line or point that you draw. |
Clear Selection: Clears selected features and returns a fresh map. |
Measure: Click the button and then define the first point by clicking on the map. As you move the cursor away from the first point the distance will be displayed at the top left. Click again to define the second point. Repeat for each segment. It is best to wait for each command to be completed before clicking another point. Use cues from your browser to monitor this. Use another tool to end measuring. |
Add Text: This tool allows you to add text onto the map. When clicked, a textbox appears in the Results/Actions area where you can type in the text you wish to place on the map. After you have typed the text into the text box, click on the map where you would like to place the text label. You can set the formatting of the text (font, style, size and rotation), but this must be done before you place it on the map. Clicking the Undo Text button removes the text from the map one at a time, in the reverse order that they were placed. Clicking the Clear All Text button removes all currently placed text on the map. |
Polygon Area: This tool allows you to draw shapes on the map. Click on the tool, then click on the map at the points that mark the vertices of the shape. The length of the side between 2 points is displayed as you go. If you click the Complete Polygon button, the drawn lines are connected together, and the area of a shape drawn is displayed. There must be a minimum of 3 points in the shape before you can use the Complete Polygon function. |
Print: Click this button, enter a title for your map, choose a template type (A4 Portrait or A3 Landscape) and click "Create Print Page". A new browser window will appear with a map layout. Use the print button on your browser. |
