Background notes
Most groundwater in the Loburn zone is sourced from shallow aquifers and only 2% is allocated based on rainfall recharge. Development of the groundwater resources is limited by the generally low yields available from relatively impermeable gravels. Additional input from rivers and streams has not been estimated but is likely to be mainly restricted to shallow aquifers connected to the rivers.
