Rainfall data

View rainfall data at over 90 sites across Waitaha/Canterbury, from Kā Tiritiri o te Moana/Southern Alps to the sea. Data we collect is reported alongside data measured by partner agencies.

The majority of sites are event recording and measure instantaneous intensities at a specific time (in seconds) and at a resolution of 0.5mm, while a few sites have rainfall totals measured at 5 minute intervals. This data can be used to assess storm intensity, provide the basis for flood warnings and provide daily, monthly or annual rainfall totals.

Please note Times below are in NZ standard time. During daylight saving time add one hour (starts on the last Sunday in September and ends on the first Sunday of the following April).
