Environment Canterbury has an extensive database of some 25,000 wells [bores] drilled and dug on properties throughout Canterbury. This database only includes those that have been consented to drill since 1975 and provided bore completion data and those drilled prior to 1975 that Environment Canterbury has been advised of or found through field surveys.
The data for a property on well/s held, may range from only a well location map reference within 100 metres plus, to a range of data quality as regards:
- Location details e.g. Grid reference, road, locality, scanned plans/maps/photos
- Bore constructions details e.g. depth, diameter, screen type & where set, casing material & pump
- Well yield, drawdown, specific capacity & pump [aquifer] tests
- Water level or artesian pressures. One-off or long-term data
- Geological data e.g. drillers well logs, geologist’s logs & aquifer identification
NOTE: There is no guarantee that a well will be on the Environment Canterbury database and, if it is, that any data/information held is accurate and no interpretation is given.
