Silver Fern Farms Limited has applied to the Canterbury Regional Council to renew two resource consents relating to the discharge of meat processing wastewater to land and the coastal marine area from a meat processing facility located at 111 The Avenue, Pareora.

CRC203304 – A discharge permit to discharge water and contaminants onto land via irrigation. The discharge area is the applicant’s land adjacent to the processing facility and Pareora Village.

CRC203305 – A coastal permit to discharge water and contaminants into the coastal marine area via an existing above ground outfall pipe, and to operate and maintain the outfall structure. The outfall structure is immediately adjacent to the meat processing facility.

The applicant has requested a consent duration of 25 years for each consent.

The above applications including the Assessment of Environmental Effects may be viewed here or at the Environment Canterbury offices at 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch or 75 Church Street, Timaru.

 Any person may make a written submission on any of the above applications.

 A submission should include your name, address and phone number, the applicant’s name, and consent application number.  A submission must state your reason for submission, whether you support or oppose the application and if you wish to be heard in support of your submission.
