Calling all stormwater superheroes!

The Community Waterways Partnership is on the lookout for Ōtautahi Christchurch businesses leading the way in preventing stormwater pollution and demonstrating outstanding stormwater management practices.

Businesses doing exceptional work to protect our waterways will be recognised at the 2026 Stormwater Superhero Awards, held this August.

Stormwater is the rain that washes off roofs, driveways, carparks, footpaths and roads into gutters — and from there it flows untreated into our rivers, estuaries and the sea. That’s why it’s crucial for businesses that store or use oils, nutrients, sediment, plastics or hazardous substances to have strong stormwater protection measures and spill procedures in place.

The awards aim to highlight and celebrate businesses going the extra mile to keep stormwater and our waterways clean, showcasing their leadership and inspiring others to do the same.
