Regional Youth Voices Hui 2018
Through the Youth Engagement function at Environment Canterbury we are inviting young people from across the region to the Regional Youth Voices Hui being held at Tuahiwi Marae 7-9 June 2018.
This is in response to a growing need to have young people and decision makers further engaged in two-way dialogue for the sake of future generations at the Canterbury region level. We are working to develop an ongoing project to foster this relationship and are looking for a group of committed young people to join us on this journey.
We have limited spaces and are calling for applications from young people aged 15-24 who are involved or have a supportive connection with an existing youth council, youth committee, community group or school. Applications can be made by completing the online form. It would also be great if applicants could attach a recommendation letter/note from a leader of the group or school that they are connected with.
- Aged between 15-24.
- Must be a resident in one of the 10 districts of Canterbury.
- Ideally be connected to an existing youth voice group, committee, action group, school council. The reason for this is that we want that those participating in this forum to be supported back in their local community and connected with existing work on youth voice and environmental action.
- Have an interest in environmental (land, water, air) issues, leadership, civic participation and governance.
- Applications close 28 May 2018
We will be assessing applications based on the above criteria as well as ensuring we have representation that covers geographic areas, rural, urban, gender, ethnicity.
