Free well water testing for Temuka and Fairlie
If your drinking water comes from a private well, come along to a well water check to test your water quality in Temuka or Fairlie this month.
Organised by the Orari Temuka Opihi Pareora (OTOP) Water Zone Committee, the well water checks will offer a free check of nitrate concentrations and further information about monitoring your private drinking supply.
If you live rurally, there’s potential for a range of contaminants to reach your private well and, unlike council drinking water systems, it's your responsibility to check your water is safe to drink.

Temuka session
When: Monday 16 May 2022, 10am – 12.30pm
Bring a sample of your water to:
- Test for nitrate concentrations and get help understanding the results
- Talk to experts about potential options to improve your private drinking water supply
- Find out about other drinking water standards you should be meeting, including E. coli levels and where to get water tested
- Talk to water zone committee members about water quality issues in your area and what action is being taken.
