How are we doing?

As the regional council for Canterbury/Waitaha – our priorities include freshwater management, climate change resilience, emissions reduction, pest control and protection and regeneration of biodiversity. Learn more about Council's role, responsibilities and work, or find out how we're tracking.

The Long-Term Plan/Te Pae Tawhiti (LTP) sets out our strategic vision, commitment and accountability to the community. It outlines our planned activities for the next 10 years, how much they will cost and how they will be funded. It also describes the outcomes sought for the community.

Long-term planning is a continuous process. We refresh the LTP every three years. In the years between LTPs, all councils must produce an Annual Plan, with their budget for the next financial year.

Our current LTP covers the period 2021-31. The current Annual Plan/Mahere ā Tau is for the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

Our work programmes, and our reporting, are organised into five portfolios, with Levels of Service targets and key initiatives.

How are we tracking overall for the period 1 July to 31 March?

Our current Annual Plan describes 40 Levels of Service, each of which has one or more measures and specific targets for the 2022/23 year.

For the period from 1 July 2022 to the end of March 2023, we have achieved one Level of Service, 27 are on track to be achieved, and one will now not be measured, projecting a completion rate of 72%.

Of the remaining Levels of Service, five are at risk and we believe that six will not be achieved.
