  1. Ōrāri Temuka Ōpihi Pareora Water Zone Committee progress report

    Each of Waitaha/Canterbury’s water zone committees has an action plan which outlines how they will work with the community to deliver their aspirations for freshwater as outlined in the Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS). Committees report annually to let the community know how things are tracking.

  2. Selwyn Waihora Water Zone Committee Action Plan 2021-2024

    Each of Waitaha/Canterbury’s water zone committees has an action plan which outlines how they will work with the community to deliver their aspirations for freshwater as outlined in the Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS).

    The CWMS puts the future of our water resources in the hands of the community. Zone committees work collaboratively to develop recommendations for councils and other organisations to deliver shared goals and targets.

  3. Measuring CWMS progress

    The Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS) targets – and goals within these – were set in 2010 to make a positive difference to our environment and how we manage our natural resources. CWMS partners, agencies and communities are responsible for delivering on these. The goals are ambitious, and require collaboration and shared resourcing.

    Water use efficiency must be addressed in the context of other CWMS targets because some actions that improve water use efficiency can be detrimental to energy efficiency and biodiversity protection. The development of benchmarks is therefore part of the goals. There is a focus on irrigation water use, but goals for community water supplies and other uses are also included.
