New leadership and committees confirmed for 2025–28 triennium
The Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury) has established its governance structure for the 2025-28 triennium.
At the first Ordinary meeting of the new Council on Wednesday 19 November, councillors confirmed members for its five committees, and appointed Chairs and Deputy Chairs to lead those committees.
The meeting also appointed core service leads for the Council’s three core services, and appointed members to 10 regional committees and partnerships.
Chair Dr Deon Swiggs, chairing his first full meeting, was pleased to confirm these important leadership positions.
“Having a strong leadership team will be crucial for our Council over the next three years, as we navigate the significant changes to come to resource management and other legislation,” Swiggs said.
The meeting can be viewed on our YouTube channel.
The final Council meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday 10 December.
