Reporting on our progress

How we structure our reporting

In July 2024, we began working under a new Impact Framework model, which saw us formally organise our work around three core services: Environmental Regulation and Protection, Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards and Public Transport.

The Impact Framework provides a clear link between what we do and the long-term outcomes we want to see in the community and the environment. It allows us to clearly measure and report on our success and helps us focus our efforts for the greatest possible impact.

This approach, centered around our three core services, forms the basis of our Long-Term Plan 2024-34, which outlines our planned activities and budget for the next 10 years.

The services we deliver as a council

Environmental Regulation and Protection
Environmental Regulation and Protection We are an environmental regulator, responsible for managing natural resources including air, soil, water and land.
Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards
Community Preparedness and Response to Hazards We support the community to be prepared for and able to respond to natural and human-induced hazards and events.
Public Transport
Public Transport We provide robust public transport services to support growth and keep communities connected.

Outcomes reporting

How we influence better outcomes for all

Setting targets and measuring progress towards outcomes was included for the first time in the Long-Term Plan 2024-34. Each outcome measure has its own page that explains what we are measuring and reporting, and why. The results for individual measures are updated as they become available and a summary of progress will be included in the Annual Report each year.

Service measures

How we measure the impact of our services

Our work is organised into three core services and each year, to ensure we are accountable to the community, service measures and targets and budgets are set out in the Long-Term Plan or Annual Plan. We provide quarterly updates on progress.
