Flood warning
Christchurch, Banks Peninsula and Selwyn District
Rain has now eased over Banks Peninsula and surrounding areas. Some light showers may still occur overnight. See the MetService website for details.
Banks Peninsula streams flows have peaked and are now receding. Surface flooding is still occurring in some areas.
Halswell River flow is still slowing rising and is likely to peak in the next couple of hours. Current water level is 5.79 m at Ryans Road, and it is not expected to rise much above this level.
We will continue to monitor forecasts, landed rainfall, river flows, and our flood protection infrastructure throughout the event.
We recommend that you stay up to date with the latest flooding information, and beware of increasing flows if you are working or recreating in affected riverbeds. Farmers adjacent to flood-affected rivers should consider moving stock away from vulnerable areas.
This message will not be updated unless the situation changes.
