Funding for environmental projects

Apply for support for projects that help improve water management, enhance biodiversity, or engage the community on environmental issues.

Water zone committees advance recommendations on how to allocate $50,000 of funding per water zone to Environment Canterbury during 2024/2025, to help implement their action plan.

Applicants can be community groups, rūnanga, private landowners or other organisations. Joint applications are allowed, however, one organisation needs to be responsible for receiving the funding and reporting.

Apply for funding

Please email your application form or any questions to the zone committee facilitator listed, before the closing date.

Applications close 25 October 2024

Note that some of the funds may also be recommended for allocation to the committees’ own activities.

The committee may also be able to provide other means of support for your project or group, such as connecting you with like-minded groups or advising other potential funding avenues.
