For the construction, operation and maintenance of a facility that will take organic material and process it via a Dry Anaerobic Digestion to produce methane for electric power and heat, CO2 production and matured compost at part of 233 Old West Coast Road, Christchurch, (adjacent to Miners Road), legally described as Lot 1 DP 27763.
- CRC253560 - To use land for deposition of fill
- CRC260733 - To discharge construction-phase stormwater to land
- CRC253561 - To discharge operational-phase stormwater to land
- CRC253562 - To discharge contaminants to air
A 35-year consent duration is sought for CRC253560, CRC253561 and CRC253562. NALG (NZ) Ltd does not specify the proposed duration for CRC260733.
The applicant has applied for the following resource consent from Christchurch City Council:
RMA/2025/506 – To use land to construct and operate a Dry Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant with associated earthworks.
- The proposed buildings (with a combined area of 16,000 m²) will accommodate an organic processing facility, associated staff facilities, and a workshop.
- External plant/structures include a combined heat and power plant (CHP), biogas storage, dry anaerobic digesters, biofilters and rainwater storage tanks.
- Access is via Miners Road, with a new sealed service road proposed to link up with the existing Miners Road access. This will include areas for staff car parking and stormwater facilities.
