South Pacific Meats Ltd has applied to discharge industrial wastewater onto land and discharge contaminants to air at 245 Thomsons Road, Burnham.

Notified proposal
CRC260203: To discharge industrial wastewater from an abattoir onto land and to discharge contaminants to air. The composition of the wastewater will include animal effluent, blood, processing by-product, washwater including cleaning agents, organic matter, animal tissue, suspended solids, truck wash and stormwater. The wastewater will be treated prior to being irrigated to land, with treatment currently occurring via a contrashear.
The applicant proposes to manage the discharge of nutrients from the proposed application of wastewater to land, in combination with all other nutrient discharges from the property, to not exceed the existing nutrient loss authorised for the property as provided for by CRC255285.
The proposed discharges will occur at 245 Thomsons Road, Burnham, legally defined as Lots 1-5 Deposited Plan (DP) 78171, Lot 1 DP 61561, Lot 1 DP 79358, Reserve 4063 and Section 1 Survey Office Plan 2511, over an area of approximately 190 hectares.
A 20-year duration is sought.
