Port Blakely Limited has applied for resource consent CRC2333226 to use land for 342.5 hectares of afforestation (establishment of plantation forestry) within the Kakahu River flow-sensitive catchment.

Afforestation would include Pinus radiata and a Pinus radiata x Pinus attenuata hybrid at a density of 1,000 stems per hectare.

The afforestation would be within the 475.7-hectare lot at McIntosh Road, RD21 Geraldine, legally described as Lot 1 DP 600026. The site is located around NZTM2000 1444131mE, 5117829 mN, and is within the Stony Creek catchment, which is part of the wider Kakahu River flow-sensitive catchment.

A consent duration of 6 years is sought, noting this consent is only required for the establishment of a plantation forest.
