Yacht refloated at Cass Bay
The yacht that sunk on its mooring in Cass Bay, Whakaraupō earlier this week was successfully refloated on Thursday 20 March.
We were part of the response to this incident, to minimise impacts to the environment and hazards to navigation.
- During the refloat our teams observed no significant loss of fuel.
- The vessel remains afloat and is stable with no obvious signs of hull damage.
- We will continue to monitor and observe the vessel over the coming days and will be collecting debris when required.

- The vessel remains stable and attached to its mooring.
- Salvors are currently assessing the vessel and will draft a plan to refloat and retrieve when it is safe to do so.
- The diesel and oils on board remains contained, with no significant loss observed.
- Debris continues to wash ashore and is being collected by staff.

- Buddy, the blue heeler dog was onboard and has been recovered safely and returned to his owner.
- There is diesel and other oils onboard. No significant loss of oil or fluid has been observed.
