Purpose: The Regional Delivery Committee oversees the Council’s delivery of its three core services and regulatory and non-regulatory functions. It also receives performance and financial reporting at the core service level.

Strategy and Policy Committee
Purpose: The Strategy and Policy Committee provides guidance to the Council on current and emerging trends, advises on strategy and policy relating to the three core services, and contributes to key plans.

Audit and Risk Committee
Purpose: The Audit and Risk Committee advises the Council on audit and risk management, ensuring the Council's financial integrity, compliance and risk management practices are robust and effective.

Regulation Hearing Committee
Purpose: The Regulation Hearing Committee has authority to hear and decide resource consent applications for which the Council is obliged to hold a hearing, and to appoint Consent Hearing Committees and Hearing Commissioners.

Purpose: In 2024, we made a fundamental shift in the way we organise our work to become more outcome-focused and purpose-driven. We are focusing our activity on three core services. Canterbury Regional Transport Committee
Purpose: Required by Section 105(1) of the Land Transport Management Act 2003 and responsible for preparing the Regional Land Transport Plan, reviewing the Plan, and monitoring progress against outcomes.

Canterbury Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Joint Committee
Purpose: A joint committee under the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, made up of elected representatives from territorial authorities and Environment Canterbury.

Canterbury Waste Joint Committee
Purpose: The Canterbury Waste Joint Committee is a joint committee of all Canterbury councils. It is responsible for advancing regional solid waste and hazardous waste minimisation in Canterbury.

Te Rōpū Tuia:
Purpose: Joint governance forum of the Council and the Chairpersons of Papatipu Rūnanga of the region.

Te Waihora Co-Governance Group
Purpose: The Te Waihora Co-Governance shared agreement was signed in 2012 between Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Environment Canterbury. In 2014, Selwyn District Council joined, followed by Christchurch City Council in 2016, and the Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai in 2019.
