NALG (NZ) Limited has applied for resource consent to use land for excavations within one metre of highest groundwater. A Dry Anaerobic Digestion facility is proposed to be established within the site (previously a quarry) and was publicly notified under consents CRC253560, CRC253561, CRC253562, CRC260733, and RMA/2025/506.

The application for land use under CRC264887 seeks to add excavation to the proposal, allowing excavations of up to 1.3 metres below the current ground level (base of the quarry) to establish soak pits for stormwater management. The site is located at 233 Old West Coast Road, Christchurch, and legally described as Lot 1 DP 27763.

NALG (NZ) Ltd does not specify the proposed duration for CRC264887.

A request cannot be made in relation to an application for a coastal permit to carry out an activity that a regional coastal plan describes as a restricted coastal activity. Where there are no submitters to be heard and a hearing is not required the decision-making Is undertaken by the Council committee and/or delegated staff.
