Summary

  • On 17 July 2024, we received a resource consent application from Ecogas for the operation of an organics processing facility in southern Hornby.
  • It was determined that this consent should be limited notified to adjoining properties and ‘sensitive activities’ - as defined by the Canterbury Air Regional Plan - within 300 metres of the proposed site.
  • 10 submissions were received from identified affected parties who had the opportunity to provide their views, comments, or concerns.
  • Hearing held on 11 and 12 June 2025, adjourned on 12 June, and closed on 1 August 2025.

Notified application

We received an application from Ecogas Limited Partnership for a discharge to air consent to discharge contaminants associated with the operation of a waste processing facility.

The facility will accept waste organic material and, via an anaerobic digestion process, will produce biogas, biofuel and a liquid digestate.

The proposed facility will be located at 17-21 Aruhe Road, Hornby, legally described as Lots 37-39, DP 572509.
