Unpacking your options to get to One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha

We will offer pre-booked event shuttles to help you get to One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha when it opens in April 2026.

Shuttles from predetermined locations

The shuttles are a managed service that you can book online prior to the event, taking you from six different pick-up areas within Christchurch, to Latimer Square, just a short walk away from the stadium.

“We’re excited to offer this direct and efficient service to eventgoers. The shuttle option provides people with a guaranteed ride to and from the stadium from within Christchurch, and the nature of it means we can scale the number of shuttles up and down depending on demand ahead of events,” public transport general manager Stewart Gibbon said.

Other transport options

We encourage you to consider all options when picking your transport for events at the stadium. Other sustainable options include:

  • Existing bus routes
  • Cycling
  • Scootering
  • Walking
  • Carpooling

“We know some people might be interested in whether public transport fares will be included in ticket prices. If an event promoter is willing to fund an integrated ticketing arrangement then we will engage with them about that, but it’s not something we can fund as a Council,” he said.

Bus network proximity

“The central location of the stadium gives us an advantage in comparison to other regions in that it is served by almost all of our existing Metro network. The downside is that we can’t simply increase capacity on our network as funding and resourcing doesn’t exist for this,” Stewart said.

Keep an eye out for more details: info about pre-booked event shuttles will be available in March 2026.

Canterbury Regional Council Public Transport Core Service Lead Cr Joe Davies said he’s excited to see the stadium open its doors in April and what it’s going to bring to the region.

“We’re proud to provide a fantastic public transport network for our community and I’m looking forward to adding this new service to give eventgoers even more options to get to and from the stadium,” he added.
